ACNE as we know can be a horrible thing to live with . If you’re looking for ways to treat and get rid of your blackheads here what you should do….

1. Make sure that you are exfoliating your skin on a regular basis. Exfoliating your skin can rid your pores of dead skin cells and other oils that have a tendency to build up and cause acne. You should exfoliate 2 to 3 times a week to help prevent acne. if you exfoliate more than that you can strip all the natural oil from your skin which can actually cause more acne. You can find exfoliating products in your local Walgreen’s. Also make sure that you have a skin care regiment, which means facial cleaner, face toner, and some form of lotion. Like the kit below. With kits such as these, you are actually training your skin to react a certain way , which is a good thing. You want to train your skin to always stay clear and beautiful. Continue reading »

hide-open

First, take heart — I have never heard someone described with “Ugh, can you believe the size of her pores?” But know that you are not alone. Large pores are a concern for many women. Although you cannot change your pore size, you can minimize or “tighten” the skin, making pores appear smaller.

Because pores often appear larger when oil and dirt get trapped in them, the first step is to keep the area clean. Daily cleansing and toning are a must. A clay mask once a week will also help to deeply cleanse and tighten the skin (use the time to “think” your pores smaller)!

The good news is skin-care companies are getting the message. Neutrogena has a Pore Refining Line with alpha hydroxy acids and Retinol to even and smooth the skin. Particularly exciting is their Pore Refining Mattifier, which is used in place of your foundation or under it. The Mattifier utilizes silicone to absorb oil and control shine and will act as a foundation primer — filling in uneven skin. Continue reading »

Closeup of a happy young beautiful woman with hands on face

To really save some serious money on skin-care, you must check out Paula Begoun’s book The Beauty Bible. She may also save your skin. She explains how sometimes the products we use can be the cause of our skin problems, and how to correct this. This new book was available at my local library. I learned from her how to best care for my skin while using fewer and less expensive products. She also describes and evaluates many skin care and make-up products in her book Don’t Go To The Cosmetics Counter Without Me. Nobody does skin-care better than Paula, so I am not going to go very much into this area. While I feel make-up product evaluations (except when analyzing ingredients) can be very subjective and a matter of taste, her skin-care product evaluations are based on objective scientific analysis of ingredients. She describes what various ingredients are, their purpose, what they can and can’t do, and which can be skin irritants. See the bookstore to order. Continue reading »

skin care tip

In general, when you buy a super-expensive product, the salesperson tells you it will last forever, because, you see, you’re only going to use a small dab under your eyes in the morning and at night. I’ve always been suspicious of that line — though not enough to avoid making purchases far exceeding my expected spending limit.

Like you, I’m one of those product suckers. Show it to me and I’ll buy it. Tell me it does something miraculous to my skin and I’ll buy two. Continue reading »

You want your facial skin to look radiant and feel great, correct?! I’m convinced that most of you do, so choosing an effective facial cleanser for your particular skin is indispensable. However, finally attaining the “ONE” or “TWO” that is/are just right for your skin, is the foundation of successful skin care. Keep searching, if you haven’t found it or them yet, because once you find it/them, you will be forever grateful!  Continue reading »

Estheticians and dermatologists combine forces to give you the best possible skincare treatments.
The esthetics industry and the medical community are slowly but surely becoming friends. The two fields have largely kept to themselves over the years, but lately many estheticians and dermatologists are combining their services to become one-stop dermatology and skincare clinics to best fulfill your skincare needs. Ear candling is an age old service, recently taking off in many salons.

“Ear candling gently removes wax build-up and clears sinus congestion using heat to draw matter out of the ear, and into the end of a candle,” says Victoria Christodoulides of Allazo Skin Care in Toronto, Ontario. “The procedure is not painful – in fact most people find it extremely relaxing.”

While many you may think ear candling is a new service, it is actually a practice that dates back thousands of years to ancient times.

Summer Oily Skin Care Tips

Summertime is full of fun outdoor activities. For oily folks, spending time outdoors is less fun. When the body heats up, oil producers kick into overdrive. Sweat mixes with oils and leaves you feel miserable. Fight the summer slide with easy summer skin care tips for oily skin.

Wash Right
Even if you don’t tend to break out, switching to a cleanser that fights zits in the summer will keep your skin looking matte. Choose one with 2 percent salicylic acid, which helps break down oil in the pores but isn’t overdrying. (We like Neutrogena Oil-Free Acne Wash Cream Cleanser.)

Become a Facialist
Exfoliate once a week. Dermatologist Doris Day recommends the Clarisonic Classic Sonic Skin Cleansing System, which uses sonic frequency to loosen dirt and oil in the pores. Or go old-school with a gentle scrub, like our favorite, Garnier Nutritioniste Pure Microbead Cream.

Always wash with a mild cleanser. Avoid harsh cleansers and grainy scrubs — they can actually make your acne worse. Resist the tendency to cleanse vigorously because this may further irritate the skin and do more harm than good.

Don’t wear makeup to bed. Make sure you remove all your makeup with a mild cleanser and water before going to bed. Continue reading »
