For Your Lips
Shape up your lips nicely and precisely, with the help of a lip liner pencil. Now is the time to apply the lip color, with the help of a brush.Blot the lipstick with tissue and then apply once again.
For The Cheeks
As against the powder-based blush of the summers, it is best to opt for a cream-based blush for the cheeks in shades of peach and pink in this season on order to give them a natural glow. Also, a dewy look for the lips is the thing to go for this season. The lips should be given a subtle look in shades of pale pink. Make sure that you use a lip liner and blot the lips with a balm to give them the moist look.
For the eyes
For the eyes, use a concealer if you’ve got dark circles – remember to pat the concealer and not rub it in. Use transfusion powder and eye shadow to highlight the eyes. A dash of mascara can work wonders in lengthening your lashes.
First, wash your face. If you have oily skin, use an unscented bar of soap. If you have dry skin, use specially formulated face soap for dry skin, then lather your face with a thick moisturizer to prevent flaking. Next, dry your skin off, and allow it to “settle” for about ten minutes. If you apply the make-up now, it will get pushed out of the pores, creating the “cakey” look.
Now, apply a foundation that matches your skin, using your fingers. Rub the foundation in all over your face as if it was a wonderful cream. Check yourself out in a brightly lit room, make sure there are no streaks. Now, if there are any blemishes on your skin, leave them alone for now.
Next, use a large brush to brush powder evenly over your face. Put some powder on your fingers and rub it into your under-eye area, getting rid of any uneven skin color. Now take a Q-Tip, and put a little bit of foundation on the end of it. If you have any blemishes, lightly (very lightly) dab a tiny amount of foundation onto your blemish. If this conceals it, leave it alone. Otherwise, apply pressure with your finger tip to the foundation in this spot to even it out. Do NOT put powder back on over this spot, it will give it a powdery look.Continue reading »
Mascara is one of the cosmetic items that most women never leave home without. What’s the deal with all this mascara madness? Read the tips below and soon you will see that you too will be:
Mad About Mascara
To coat the mascara brush, twirl the mascara wand around. Do not pump it as this will cause air to get into your mascara tube and dry it out.
To apply mascara begin by lightly brushing the mascara tip back and forth across the lower lashes. Then brush mascara on the upper lashes. (Some people find it easier to hold the tip of the wand vertically — instead of at an angle.)Continue reading »
Even if you normally wear little or no makeup, you should wear some on your wedding day. If you do not, you may end up looking “washed out” in your photographs.
When you pick out your wedding day makeup, wear a white shirt.
For the most part, keep makeup very matte looking. The strong lights tend to reflect off your face if you use makeup with a lot of shimmer in it; however, you can use a bit of gloss on your lips.
Since the camera captures the slightest shine, you should have a powder compact handy for quick touch-ups during the photography session.
Make sure your blush, lip liner and lipstick are all in the same color family.
To make lips seem full and luscious for the entire night, first draw a well-defined lip with your sharpened lip liner. Then fill in your entire lips with the liner. Follow with lipstick using a lip brush. Finish lips by blotting them lightly with loose powder; then apply another coat of lipstick.
Stay away from very brown or pale lipsticks – they look washed out on photographs.
Use an eyelash curler before applying mascara to make your lashes look longer and your eyes look bigger
Bring out your eyelashes with an extra coat of mascara, making sure that every lash is separated. Of course you’ll want to wear waterproof mascara!
Finish your look with loose powder; it sets everything.
Don’t forget about your hands! Everyone will want to gaze at your beautiful ring at the reception, so make sure your nails look great!
To keep yourself looking your best on the wedding day, give your head bridesmaid a small bag to carry with your essentials. Include lipstick, blush, a powder compact, a sample vial of your perfume, an extra pair of pantyhose, a nail file and any other items you might need.
Molten, metallic eyes are the focus of this season’s hottest face.
“Like fashion, makeup this season is really a combination of several retro movements,” says Laura Szucs, makeup artist with the Plutino Group in Toronto, Ontario. “We are seeing various elements of style from the ’60s, ’70s and ’80sÑ this Continue reading »
Of course you should always carry sunscreen but there are some other summer beauty essentials that you shouldn’t be without. Whether you are headed to a summer BBQ, a ballgame or the beach, you can keep your makeup and hair fresh by using the right products.
So, Summer is here! In honor of the three glorious months of sunshine and fun ahead of us, Teen Vogue’s beauty team each pulled together a list of their absolute top five must-have beauty buys. Chill out, and enjoy!
Concealer
To hide small imperfections, you can use a little concealer. You only need to use a little bit, otherwise it will look unnatural in the sunlight. Before heading out into the sun, using a small, fine brush, dot a small amount of the concealer onto the area you are trying to cover. Blend until it becomes one with your skin. Avoid getting concealer into the small wrinkles. It will enhance them, making them more noticeable.
Waterproof mascara
“A very black shade will make eyes pop and it’s a great security blanket for looking fabulous,” says Toronto-based makeup and hair artist David Goveia. If you already have dark lashes, you might want to try a clear mascara to give your lashes a nice sheen. “It can also be used on brows,” he says.
Cream blush
Unlike pressed powder blush, cream blush blends easily into bare moisturized skin and leaves a dewy, healthy-looking finish. Blend a sheer coral shade onto the apples of cheeks and up toward the temple.
Hair
The high humidity can leave our hair feeling a little more dirty than usual. Rather than washing it more often try a dry shampoo that will leave your locks feeling refreshed and with an added bonus of body – what more can you ask for? Batiste have a new smell that is perfect for summer, the coconut and exotic tropical scent will leave you with happy memories of trips abroad.
Tangerine Gloss
While we’re all about an au natural beauty look, sometimes you need a lip gloss that’s just as hot as the temperatures outside. For that, we must direct you to Topshop’s amazing new beauty line and suggest picking up their Gloss ($10) in Heatwave as soon as you possibly can. It’s the perfect semi-sheer orange red hue (very Prada if we do say so) and will definitely give you the perfect pout.
Face base
A lightweight base is great for the summer months, instead of using your thick foundation and powders show off your natural complexion by using a tinted moisturiser. We use Laura Mercier’s Tinted Moisturiser ($78). It has a sheer formula with a hint of colour to give your complexion a healthy glow, plus an added bonus of SPF 20.
