Low Fat Diet Food

Low fat diet food is something that every health conscious fanatic would definitely look for. In all honesty, I was more into fast and really junk food until one time I had to stay in a hospital for three days under observation. Such junk food started killing me – not slowly but really fast.

If you have been a lover of fast food and think that it is time to live a healthier life then you would agree with me when I say that low fat diet food is the best for your heart, body and mind. If you have been wondering about which would make the best low fat diet for a healthy living, then this is the place where you are going to find your answers.

A Nice Pasta Dish For The Weekend

I learned a new pasta dish, earlier in the week, when I stopped by my chef buddy's place and I'm going to share it with you. This is simple (now that I've been walked through it by an expert), and it's also pretty healthy, if you're not a member of the group, Science In The Public Interest (they're the same people who told us fettucine alfredo was fatteninglike it took a PhD to figure that out.)

Penne with Broccoli Rabe and Sausage

1 pound of penne, capellini, or orecchiette
8 ounces Italian sausage, chicken, turkey, or pork (casings removed)
6-10 cloves of garlic, finely minced
2 bunches broccoli rabe, about 2 pounds, trimmed and cut in 2, in lengths
1 cup chicken broth
1/2 cup extra virgin olive oil
Salt
Fresh black pepper
Red pepper flakes
1 cup grated parmesan cheese

Truth About the 3 Day Tuna Diet

Sometimes when you're desperate to lose those extra 10 or 12 pounds for a special reason, you're tempted to look around for what seems like the quickest weight loss method that sounds like it may work. This is the main reason why the 3 day tuna diet is so popular, if you already enjoy eating tuna, then it can't be so bad to eat a little more of it in order to drop those stubborn pounds, right?

For those of you who don't like or can't eat tuna, you may be wondering: is there a substitute for tuna in the 3 day diet? Well, you are allowed to have a very small amount of chicken, peanut butter and vegetables, if that counts.

Fatty Bits

Most of us have a tendency to put on weight in one particular place. Whether we have fat thighs, flabby arms or a potbelly, it's important to tackle these problem areas – not just to look better but, more importantly, to avoid the health risks associated with them.

Ankles

Chunky ankles are often the result of water retention before your period. Check by pressing your thumb against your ankle – if the skin springs back when you remove your thumb, it's fat; if you can see a dent, it's fluid. Persistently swollen ankles can be a sign of heart disease, liver problems, kidney failure or thrombosis.

Boost your Metabolism with Supercharged Snacks and Drinks

Whole-Grain Cereal and Oats

Complex carbohydrates and fibre. High insulin levels signal the body to store fat, so fibre and complex carbs help the metabolism in a roundabout way by keeping insulin levels low.

Chillies and Cayenne Pepper

The chemical capsaicin, which gives chilli peppers their sting. The capsaicin in spicy foods (such as jalapeno chillies and cayenne pepper) stimulates the production of adrenaline, which speeds up the metabolism.

Green Tea

A chemical called EGCG. Drinking green tea on a daily basis boosts the metabolism, as the brew promotes the oxidation process of breaking down fats into energy. EGCG also triggers the brain and nervous system to work faster, helping the body burn more kilojoules.

The Nut Case

Nuts have long had a bad rap for being high in fat and calories, prompting weight-conscious bodybuilders to relegate nuts to their lists of forbidden foods. But as researchers take a closer look at walnuts, almonds, and other nuts, they're discovering these delicious, crunchy foods are packed with vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants. And that fat we were so wary of? Turns out it's good for our hearts – and our bodybuilding.

That was the conclusion of the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA), which released a qualified health claim in 2003 that states eating a handful of nuts a day may reduce the risk of heart disease. That's because most of the fat in nuts is monounsaturated and polyunsaturated, which have been shown to lower levels of LDL (so-called bad cholesterol). These fats are important for bodybuilders because they have an anti-inflammatory effect on the body, and can help repair tiny muscle injuries that create inflammation.

Hdl Versus Ldl Cholesterol

High cholesterol is the cause of thickening artery walls that can lead to atherosclerosis, heart attacks and strokes. Unless treatment is put in place to lower cholesterol levels the person could suffer from one of the aforementioned conditions. Part of the treatment for high cholesterol is understanding why high cholesterol levels occur. This is due to the way cholesterol is transported throughout the body. This article will look at this in relation to high density lipoproteins (HDL) and low density lipoproteins (LDL).

Cholesterol is created naturally in the liver. Other than that, it is ingested into the body from animal products like milk, eggs, fatty meat and butter. Or from saturated or trans fat food products like take away foods, cakes, biscuits and potato chips. Once it is in the intestine it will be absorbed through the wall of the stomach into the bloodstream. Foodstuffs high in plant sterols restrict this absorption and are often marketed as being good for reducing cholesterol.
