The importance of sunscreen use has been clearly established. What is also clear is that sunscreen use alone is not enough to protect against premature aging of the skin and skin cancer. Trying to get most people to stay out of the sun altogether is both unreasonable and impossible. Definition:A low-grade, persistent form of classic acne brought on by overactive oil glands. It affects more than 51 million adults (mostly women) in their 20s, 30s and 40s.

Cause: Heredity, hormonal irregularities and chronic stress are contributing factors.

Rx: Women with mild adult acne should keep an eye out for over-the-counter cleansers, creams, lotions and gels that contain benzoyl peroxide (it dries up existing pimples and kills acne-causing bacteria), or salicylic acid (it unclogs pores and prevents lesions). Continue reading »
