ACNE as we know can be a horrible thing to live with . If you’re looking for ways to treat and get rid of your blackheads here what you should do….

1. Make sure that you are exfoliating your skin on a regular basis. Exfoliating your skin can rid your pores of dead skin cells and other oils that have a tendency to build up and cause acne. You should exfoliate 2 to 3 times a week to help prevent acne. if you exfoliate more than that you can strip all the natural oil from your skin which can actually cause more acne. You can find exfoliating products in your local Walgreen’s. Also make sure that you have a skin care regiment, which means facial cleaner, face toner, and some form of lotion. Like the kit below. With kits such as these, you are actually training your skin to react a certain way , which is a good thing. You want to train your skin to always stay clear and beautiful. Continue reading »

Mint-To-Cure-Acne

For many women, acne is a lifelong battle rather than an awkward teenage phase, so companies are thinking creatively about blemish treatments for grown-ups. The latest: aromatherapy oils you apply to breakout-prone areas. They’re a pleasant alternative to your basic pimple cream — but does adding oil to acne-prone skin make sense? Maybe. “Many essential oils — like sage and neroli — actually have astringent properties,” explains Robin Scheirenbeck, president of Essence to Essence Aromatherapy. Continue reading »

n a perfect world, nutritionists would hail the health benefits of the All-Chocolate Diet, Seinfeld would still be on the air, and everyone would have flawless skin 24-7. Reality check: Breakouts happen. . .but not always for the reasons you might think. To clear up the confusion—and hopefully, your skin, too—check out the truth about these commonly-believed acne myths.

Myth #1: Eating chocolate and greasy foods—like French fries—causes breakouts.
The facts: Dermatologists say there’s no evidence that sugary or fried snacks affects your skin. If, however, you find that you tend to break out more after eating a certain food (for example, some people find that the iodine in foods like shellfish and sushi causes breakouts), eliminate that food from your diet and see if your skin clears up. Also keep in mind that while junk food can’t be directly blamed for breakouts, healthy skin (not to mention a healthy body) requires nutrition from a well-balanced diet. Continue reading »

Acne Acne is caused by bacteria. It is common in oily skin. In Acne, the pores get clogged with oil, dead skin cells and dirt. Bacteria grows in the clogged pores, infecting the pores, leading to pimples and blackheads.

Acne treatments tried and tested

Antibiotics. The most effective means to clear acne is to see a doctor. He would probably give you a course of antibiotics. That clears acne really quickly. Alternatively, an alcohol based lotion containing antibiotics also works very well on clearing acne. The catch is that, for my case, the acne kept returning. Retin A A doctor put me on retin A. This takes a long time to work. But when it does, skin remains clear for a long time too. What happens is that you are given retin A cream to apply on your skin twice daily. During the period of treatment, you would have to avoid the sun as your skin would be more sensitive to the sun. Initially your skin will get worse as the blemishes hidden in the deeper layers of the skin surface. After the first few weeks or months, the skin starts to clear. This treatment is great if you can persevere and tolerate the initial period when your acne really worsens.

Aromatherapy. Tea tree oil is reputed to be good for pimples and boils. It worked well for boils but the pimples still take a long time to subside. By the time a pimple has subsided, new ones have appeared. I would rate its effect on acne as mild Lavender is even milder. A daily facial steam using lavender oil, petitgrain and chamomile oil (1 drop of each) is recommended by some aromatherapy books. But works really slowly, if at all. Continue reading »

If you can count more than 10 blemishes on your face, your acne is considered severe and you should consult a dermatologist or family physician. Your doctor may suggest one of the following prescription medications:

Tetracycline. This oral antibiotic helps clear up the infection occurring inside clogged pores . A caution: It can cause vaginal yeast infections and photosensitivity (to sunlight), and should not be taken while pregnant.

Minocycline and Doxycycline. Oral antibiotics in the tetracycline family, they fight bacteria and are broad range. Continue reading »

Always wash with a mild cleanser. Avoid harsh cleansers and grainy scrubs — they can actually make your acne worse. Resist the tendency to cleanse vigorously because this may further irritate the skin and do more harm than good.

Don’t wear makeup to bed. Make sure you remove all your makeup with a mild cleanser and water before going to bed. Continue reading »
