Schemes, Scams, And Legit Business Opportunities – What Is What These Days?
Many people find working from the comfort of their own homes extremely appealing, as do I. The internet is flooded daily with advertisements from hundreds of work at home companies that may or may not be scams. But, how do you weed out the good ones from the bad ones? That would take countless hours of researching and quite honestly, who has the time for that? In this article, I will try to clue you in on the various types of work at home business opportunities/schemes that exist today. Some are legit, some are unethical and some are straight up illegal.
*Pyramid Scheme: Beginning with chain letters, Pyramid Schemes first generated in the latter half of the twentieth century.
*Chain Letter Pyramid Scheme: Chain Mail is the oldest, and most familiar pyramid scheme. This is seldom seen today, because there are cheaper ways to lure people in than using the U.S. mail, and it’s illegal.
*Gifting Program: Gifting Programs are simply a new variation on the old pyramid scheme, but usually pitched as a way to “share the wealth”, which of course, would financially benefit you!
*Illegal Matrix: An illegal matrix is just that…illegal! It is a variation of the gifting program – where you put in X amount of dollars and your money comes from others recruited down the line.
*HYIP: The legitimate ones are usually investing your money in such things as commodities, FOREX, offshore, and other programs that can return up to 3% daily, or a steady but small income over longer periods, such as a month.
*Auto-Surfer Ponzi Scheme: An auto-surf program could be legitimate, but beware if you’re being asked to pay a huge amount of money to look at websites (which in turn makes you money).
These are just a few opportunities or “schemes”, if you will, that I have run into throughout the years. I hope this gives you a better understanding of the terminology and that you will be able to make a better informed decision when searching for an at home business opportunity.
