Put extra pucker in your pout with this season’s purple, berry and metallic lipsticks.
This season, purple reigns supreme and lips are no exception to the rule. Brilliant violet, sumptuous burgundy and plum, and burnished red are all hot shades for lips this fall, but the key to success lies in proper application.
“Lips this season are matte and should appear as though they are stained with color,” says Laura Szucs, a makeup artist with Plutino Group in Toronto, Ontario. “To achieve a sexy, natural look, first line lips with a lighter lip liner, then fill them in with a darker shade.”
If you’re after a softer look, metallic shades with a touch of shimmer are also big news this fall. Lips shine with gold, silver or even glistening blue and green lipsticksÑall of which look great on their own or worn as a gloss.
“When worn as a gloss over another lipstick, these metallic shades give lips a bit of kick,” Szucs says. “Lips look fresh and moist, not greasy.”
