Chamomile Home Spa

Insomnia? Suffering from PMS? How about a relaxing Chamomile Spa in the comfort of your own home?

What you need

  • Chamomile essential oil
  • Chamomile tea (tea bags or dried flowers)
  • Chamomile lotion

Before you start

Chamomile is considered to be anti-allergenic. But it has a sensitizing effect on some people. To be safe, do a patch test 2 days before the spa. If there is no irritation, do another patch test 24 hours before the spa, if there is no irritation, then proceed with care. If at any time, your skin is irritated, stop immediately. Then rinse with plenty of water.

Caution:
Pregnant women should avoid using chamomile essential oil and should not take too much chamomile tea. Chamomile is an emmenagogue. It encourages bleeding.

The spa

Set a pot of water to boil. When it boils, remove from heat and put 1  teaspoon of chamomile tea (or 1 chamomile tea bag) in it to infuse.

Remove all your makeup with milk. Rinse off with lots of water. Mix a little almond flour and honey and use that as a scrub on you face. Rinse off with a lot more water.

Fill a basin with really hot water. Put 2 drops of chamomile essential oil in it. Give yourself a facial sauna by keeping your face 20 cm above the basin and pulling a towel over your head and the basin to form a tent. Do not do this if you have asthma. The steam can cause an asthma attack.

Shower first with soap and water. Scrub your body with more of the honey and almond flour scrub to leave your body soft and smooth.

Run your bath. In the mean time, put on some Manuka  Honey on your face as a lovely face mask.

When the bath is full, put 5 drops of chamomile essential oil into it and mix it very well with the bath water with your hand, to disperse it. If you have dry skin or sensitive skin, mix the chamomile essential oil in 1 to 2 tablespoon of Carrier Oil first before adding it to your bath.
