You Wont Lose Weight By Snacking On Kids Leftovers

Who can resist the cure of a lukewarm burger lingering in a pool of ketchup? Youd never dream of ordering it in restaurant, but when its left on juniors p1ate… The key solution here is to remember that you are not a dustbin! Its a hard habit to break, but dont eat the leftovers.

Clear the plates straight away and put the leftovers in the bin, Having children in the house often means a ready supply of crisps, biscuits and cakes, especially if they take packed lunches to school. Keep these products out of your sight and set a good example by snacking on fruit.

This is a hazard of having young children. On the whole, young children tend to eat when theyre hungry, which means little and often. Its fine for them, but can be disastrous for you. Even if you have got your children trained to the point that they will happily tuck into a bowl of hummus and carrot sticks, youll find yourself salivating and before you know it, youre joining in and eating most of whats on the table, regardless of whether youre hungry or not. Heres how to limit the damage:

1. If you cant stop yourself from joining in, cut up an apple into small pieces, put it on a plate and sit down and eat with the children. 2. Make it a rule never to eat standing up and always to eat off a plate. Youll be surprised how much grazing this will stop. 3. Tape a list of your weight maintenance goals to the fridge door. 4. Think beyond baking. Remember that you are a role model for your children and that its good for them to help you make things other than biscuits. Little ones can help you stir up fruit smoothies just as well as cakes.
