Blood Pressure Machine-for Your Wrist

Take your blood pressure easily, quickly (less than 1 minute), and accurately. No messy hard-to-put-on arm cuffs!

I discovered this when my grandma was in a nursing home. She had a large arm and it hurt her when she had her blood pressure taken every day. I searched for alternative blood pressure machines and found WRIST BLOOD PRESSURE MACHINES. They are now being tested and validated for accuracy and reflect the leading trend to use at home or in a long term care facility.

One of the challenges of taking a blood pressure is to have the correct cuff size. Having a properly fitting cuff is the most important factor to consider when purchasing a home blood pressure monitor. Many monitors are available with different-sized cuffs to fit different arm sizes. Poorly fitting cuffs will not give accurate blood pressure measurements. They may even make your blood pressure seem high when it is not!

There is an easy alternative to struggling to take your blood pressure at home.

Wrist blood pressure machines are easy to use for everyone. For example, the elderly, people with large upper arms or very skinny upper arms, and muscular upper arms wouldn’t have to worry about cuff size and fit if they used their wrist!

Using a wrist blood pressure monitor there is no worrying about what cuff size, where to place the cuff, proper cuff fit (how snug, now loose?!)

If you worry about your blood pressure, you could check it at home every day. This saves time running to the doctor yet will alert you to changes that may need attention by your Physician. You can do this alone without anyone to assist you!

Normal blood pressure is below 140/90 mmHg, although most cardiologists agree that 115/75 mmHg is the gold standard. Once blood pressure rises above 115/75 mmHg, the risk of cardiovascular disease begins to increase. These guidelines are from The Heart and Stroke Foundation released in 2007.

Some people get nervous when they go to the doctor, which can raise blood pressure.

WHY AT HOME: Your doctor may suspect, for instance, that your blood pressure gets higher due to the anxiety associated with being at the doctor’s office, but is otherwise normal. This is a condition called white-coat hypertension.

Monitoring blood pressure at home, where anxiety won’t cause those spikes, can help you determine if you have true high blood pressure or simply white coat hypertension.

I found a wrist blood pressure machine which is approved by the BHS (British Hypertension Society) and has been clinically validated according the International Protocol and the AAMI protocol.

WRIST and Automatic BLOOD PRESSURE MONITORS THAT MEET VALIDATION STANDARDS are listed by the British Hypertensive Society.

The Omron HEM637 wrist blood pressure machine:
